About the Program:

The Statewide Strangulation Training Program (SST) was developed by the Statewide Law Enforcement Training on Violence Against Women Program (VAWT) in 2017 to create an 8 hour training course on how to effectively investigate and prosecute strangulation crimes against women for both law enforcement officers and prosecutors.

The purpose of the Statewide Strangulation Training Program is by building a bridge in educating law enforcement and prosecutors about the symptoms, effects, and lethality of strangulation in the crimes of sexual assault, domestic violence, elder abuse, human trafficking, stalking, and dating/acquaintance violence. The program is funded by the S.T.O.P Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) Program Grant from the Criminal Justice Division (CJD) of the Texas Governor’s Office.
